COMET OPEN DAY

The day will bring together those currently engaged in using audio across the country to promote literacy for young people, as well as those that want to get involved. In a short session we will talk about currently what is happening, see a full time youth station in action, discuss how this can work and consider what else can be done to take young peoples broadcasting forward.

Discussions will be held on hold audio can to used within the curriculum and it wider implications on learning.

The day will be in two sessions starting at 10am with the first session ending at 1pm. The second session will start at 12pm and end at 4pm with a buffet lunch being offered from 12pm to 1pm, this will allow the two groups to meet and network.

All the activities will take place at Takeover Radio in Leicester and there is no charge for the day, funding has been supplied by the Awards For All fund. If you would like more information please email graham@takeoverradio.com or ring on 0116 2999615.

Each session will comprise of:

10:00-12:00 Group 1:

10:00 – 10:20 The background to broadcasting with Children and Young People Nationally. This will include links to the national curriculum.

10:20 – 10:30 The Takeover Radio Story – Graham Coley (director)

10:30 – 10:45 Kidz panel with Q+A

10:45 – 11:00 The toolkit and the future of COMET – Robin Webber-Jones

11:00 – 11:45 Tour of Takeover Radio studios

11:45 – 12:00 Q+A and next steps

12:00 – 13:00 Lunch (a chance for all groups to network should they wish)

13:00 – 15:00 Group 2:

They will have the opportunity to repeat the experience of group 1

15:00 – 16:00 Further discussion about further partners
